After a grueling day of walking around Computex in the sweltering Taiwanese summer heat, I came upon this chair. While any chair would have done in my disheveled state, this is one of the most inventive gaming chairs I’ve seen to date. You would wonder, though, how a gaming chair could be better than a heated nuggie holder. Its backrest is a bit wobbly, to start.

Listen to me.I know it sounds like a gimmick, but something that hit me when I sat down in this chair was that I’ve never actually sat up straight in a gaming chair. No one does. We wiggle around, we lean forward, we pull our legs up. But the ThunderX3 Core loft’s many mechanisms are able to adapt to all this tomfoolery, and I honestly don’t think I’ve had this much support for my bones since I was a wee baby coddled in my mammy’s arms.

But seriously, ThunderX3 has spent a lot of time and energy making even the least inclined toward ergonomics comply. It has incredible, well-padded 4D armrests, a Sync6 mechanism that I’ll describe in a bit, and a Lumbar 360° innovation backrest feature that moves with you as you shift in the chair—among many other ergonomic tricks that set it apart from the typical gaming chair.

The latter might be the least useful of the lot, but it comes in handy if you gotta get cosy with your PC but can’t roll any closer.

For all of my awkward sitting postures, the side support of the incredibly fluffy head cushion is great. Additionally, the versatile cushion is an excellent addition. It draws attention to the reality that, even with their chair at the ideal height, some people will not be able to touch the floor. Its rounded edge allows you to rock your feet, and when you wish to use a controller or place your laptop on your lap, it can also be separated into two cushions and used as an armrest.

The ThunderX3’s backrest is also lockable at four angles, and although you can’t recline all the way back as you can with many gaming seats, I don’t think that takes away from the comfort from the practicality. I’ve never used those full recline features anyway, except to show off.
