The Galaxy S24 Ultra is deserving of its place at the top of the list of large smartphones. First off, its 6.8-inch, 120Hz QHD OLED display makes excellent use of the handset’s size with its remarkable color and brightness levels. The phone’s other features, such as its benchmark results, software update schedule, battery life, and excellent cameras, are also very good. Not to mention the included S Pen or the new Galaxy AI features.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is now more costly than it was a year ago, and the 5x telephoto does seem like a step down from Samsung’s previous 10x camera. If you want to live big, this phone is still the best.

Nevertheless, keep an eye out for updates regarding the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the phone that ought to replace this one in Samsung’s line up early in January. The S24 Ultra’s days on this list could be numbered.

By providing features that the iPhone 15 Pro Max does not, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra aims to reclaim its position as the best phone. However, the Galaxy S24 Ultra costs, which ismore than the price of an iPhone 15 Pro Max or Galaxy S23 Ultra. The most contentious modification to Samsung’s phone is the replacement of the 10x optical camera with a 50MP 5x telephoto lens, which is sharper but less powerful. Galaxy AI will need to demonstrate that software can compensate for the apparent lack of significant hardware upgrades, as I typically expect longer telephoto ranges with subsequent devices.

2.iPhone 16 Pro Max

The iPhone 16 Pro Max, which stands at 6.9 inches, is the largest non-foldable on this list in addition to being the largest iPhone we have ever seen. During testing, we were pleased to find that Apple had made good use of this extra-large canvas.

Plus anyone buying the phone early’s could be disappointed with the drip-feeding of Apple Intelligence features. Still, there’s no better iPhone if you want the most features in the largest package.

3.Google Pixel 9 Pro XL

At 6.8 inches, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is roughly the same size as the Pixel 8 Pro before it, but it flaunts its big phone status much more openly thanks to a new subtitle and redesigned flat sides. However, it’s still manageable for me, and the weight is still manageable.

But more significantly, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is an excellent phone for taking pictures. Google’s well-balanced color science and high resolution sensors continue to produce excellent images, even though the cameras haven’t changed all that much from the previous year. If you don’t like them, you can simply use generative AI tools to add entirely new elements or tidy up parts you don’t like. Although I’ve tried Samsung’s comparable these features and appreciated them, the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s are on another level.

Praise also has to be given to Google for improving the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s battery life significantly, after years of lagging behind the competition. Big phones should last you a full day of constant use, and the Pixel can now claim that too. If only it offered a higher basic storage capacity, it would earn a higher spot on this list through its sheer value.

Last fall, something different occurred. After putting the Pixel 8 Pro through numerous photo shoots and comparisons with all the best phones available, I finally made a Pixel phone one of my daily drivers for the first time in a long time, and I’m glad I did. I’m excited for the Pixel 9 Pro XL now that its replacement is at last available.

This is because, despite my attempts to switch to newer Android phones like the OnePlus 12 and Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Pixel 8 Pro remained in my possession for nearly a year. Google is reorganizing its Pixel lineup, introducing two “Pro” models in place of the company’s flagship model. In terms of technology, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is the direct successor to the Pixel 8 Pro because of their similar sized screens — whereas the Pixel 9 Pro has a much smaller display. Given the popularity of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra, Google’s arming the Pixel 9 Pro XL with bigger upgrades like newer cameras, more helpful AI features, and a stronger, more durable design. 4.Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Samsung is the industry leader in foldable phones, as demonstrated by this year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung has made the most elegant and sophisticated foldable phones available, and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 might be one of their most considerate phones to date. When I first took my review unit out of its packaging, I was hesitant to fold the Galaxy Z Flip 6 because it comes unfolded. Its rigid and straight appearance betrays its precision design and longevity. The majority of people I give the Galaxy Z Flip 6 don’t realize it’s a foldable phone.

Although it is less noticeable than before, the Z Flip 6’s crease is still noticeable, and the phone’s overall fit and finish are superb—better than I would have expected from a Samsung phone. The Z Flip 6 appears flawless when it is open, resembling the iPhone 15 Pro in every way. However, it is a competitor rather than a copy. Samsung wanted its most recent flip phone to be as seamless as possible, and it does just that. In contrast to its most recent flip phone rival, the Motorola Razr 2024, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is cautious. You cannot do as much with the Galaxy because its cover display is smaller than that of the Razr Plus.

It may surprise you to learn that Galaxy AI is part of that cautious approach. AI has appeared on numerous new phones, and we’re getting closer to Apple’s launch of Apple Intelligence in the year ahead. Some of the best AI features can be found in Samsung’s Galaxy. Samsung gets right what Google and others don’t, like writing style suggestions, and scene optimization in the cameras.

Samsung’s AI strategy enables users to experiment with the future and enjoy special features. That is the pinnacle of Samsung’s product philosophy, which is why tech enthusiasts find Samsung phones so alluring.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has both predictable flaws and amazing strengths. The power of this phone is astounding. The Z Flip 6 outperformed the iPhone 15 Pro Max in our numerous benchmark tests when it came to multi-core performance. In certain gaming tests, it outperformed the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro.
