The top Android tablets can be used as a laptop substitute, a portable gaming device, a creative space, or an inexpensive way to browse your least favorite social media feeds. I’m here to suggest the top Android tablets for every purpose and budget after reviewing the best models from Samsung, OnePlus, Lenovo, TCL, Amazon, and more.
With amazing graphics and more customization options than Apple’s top tablets, Android tablets today are multitasking and gaming beasts. Additionally, tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE offer longer battery life and more screen space than an iPad of the same price.
The Galaxy Tab S9 FE is still a fantastic option if you want to cut costs, but both the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus, which we recently reviewed, are excellent tablets for heavy Android users. We’re currently reviewing the OnePlus Pad 2, and we anticipate more tablets in the near future, hopefully with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processors.

A high-end tablet with a ton of features that you won’t find on any iPad or other Android tablet is Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 Plus. With a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor that specializes in graphics performance, it is designed for gaming, but Samsung’s software and the included S Pen also make it ideal for multitasking and accomplishing tasks.
Samsung has prudently kept producing long-lasting, water-resistant tablets with IP68 certification. If the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus gets dirty, you can wash it in the sink or take it into the bathtub. The Galaxy Tab S10 Plus costs the same as an iPad Pro 11-inch tablet, but you get a much larger display, which also means a bigger battery inside, and Samsung happily gives you an S Pen, it’s not an expensive accessory like the Apple Pencil.
Samsung also makes the best tablet software around. It’s very easy to open multiple apps side-by-side, and you can even connect the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus to a monitor and keyboard to create a desktop-like experience. This is the best Android tablet you can buy, and easily one of the best tablets all around.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Plus is the best of both worlds, sitting between a phone and a laptop. It has perks if you prefer writing text, with its included S Pen stylus, and it aces tasks that take advantage of everything the stylus has to offer. But to the casual consumer, these specialized features would likely be a waste, and I’d instead push you in the direction of the Tab A series.
The Galaxy Tab S10 Plus has exceptionally rich sound to match its beautiful AMOLED display, and it’s comfortable enough to hold for a while in its landscape form factor. It’s no surprise that streaming content and listening to music with the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus is so satisfying.
It’s the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Plus’s bread and butter to be big, with a beautiful display to match and powerful performance for any task. But parts of the design feel… Too big. Big is good for a tablet positioned as a powerful laptop rival and artistic tool, but some elements feel like they’re rubbing up against others.
It’s difficult to use the tablet in portrait mode, which I prefer when reading news articles online and taking notes. The back of the tablet looks nice but it isn’t easy to hold in portrait orientation. The charging area for the S Pen, located on the back, feels rough against my fingers whether or not the pen is magnetically attached. Trying to get a better grip from the other end caused my hand to come into contact with the cameras, resulting in a similar hand feeling issue.
The pen charging on the back of the device is another issue. When the pen is attached, the tablet won’t sit flat on its back. Though the pen can magnetically attach to the edge of the display, it will not charge there – but at least it’s out of the way.
Pros
- Brilliant battery life
- Gorgeous big display
Cons
- Cumbersome to hold in portrait orientation
2.OnePlus Pad
- Lightweight heavyweight: The sleek, ultraportable form factor is all about comfort. It’s just 6.54mm thin and weighs a mere 552g.
- Elegance with comfort: Sleek. Ultraportable. All-day comfort. Combining elegance with all-day comfort, the flagship OnePlus Pad is a travel companion that’s always by your side.
- Smooth from the inside out: The CNC aluminum unibody and 2.5D curved glass are seamlessly smooth for enhanced comfort. Pair up the OnePlus Stylo to level up to an even smoother workflow.

From our testing and experience with the OnePlus Pad, we can confidently say it is the best Android tablet for pretty much everyone who wants a great tablet but does not want an iPad. And even better, it’s priced competitively, undercutting rival tablets from the likes of Samsung.
So what makes the OnePlus Pad special? Well first off it sports a very impressive display that’s even sharper than the screens you’ll find on an iPad Pro. But not only is the 2800 x 2000 resolution great on this 11.61-inch display, it also refreshes at a speedy 144Hz. So that makes the OnePlus Pad a great device for viewing everything from movies and games to web pages and documents on.
Class-leading charging speeds and a 9,510mAh battery sweetens the deal for the OnePlus Pad. The only minor let down is the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip can’t quite keep up with very demanding tasks like photo editing in Lightroom. So even though there’s the option to use the OnePlus Pad with a keyboard cover, it’s not likely to stand up to being a laptop replacement.
Finding the ideal tablet for your needs at the right price can be challenging because the tablet market is just as complex as the smartphone market. With the OnePlus Pad, the startup smartphone manufacturer transforms a stagnant market that needs a shakeup with its product philosophy: impressive displays, elegant design, and aggressive pricing.
If the ‘Android vs. Apple’ debate isn’t important to you, the OnePlus Pad is a great entertainment tablet that’s the ideal portable screen for any purpose around the house. The OnePlus Pad shines at providing entertainment, web browsing, and serving as your go-to screen for daily chores. The speakers are loud and clear enough to entertain (annoy) everyone nearby, and the display is superb. You can get it in any color you want, as long as it’s green, and the design is sturdy and more fashionable than other tablets at this price.
Although it’s not necessary, having a OnePlus phone, such as the OnePlus 11, makes the OnePlus Pad even better. Given its striking appearance and larger display compared to the iPad 10.9 (2022), even iPhone owners might choose the Pad. This tablet from OnePlus is a winner, and perhaps it will finally send a message to Samsung and other major competitors about what a good tablet should cost and what matters most in a tablet.
In addition to releasing a tablet, OnePlus is completing an ecosystem of products. The OnePlus Pad shares many visual similarities with the company’s other flagship devices from the previous year, including the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus Buds Pro 2. That is, if you purchased those items in “Arbor Green” (the buds) or “Eternal Green” (the phone). Although OnePlus is fully committed to going green with the OnePlus Pad, both of those devices were also available in black.
Pros
- Display is sharper than iPad Pro
Cons
- Performance doesn’t match best phones
3.Amazon Fire HD 10
- BIGGER, BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL — Vivid 11“ screen with 2.4 million pixels (2000 x 1200 resolution) lets you see every detail of your favorite movies, TV shows, and games. Certified for low blue light.
- MAX PERFORMANCE — Built with a powerful octa-core processor, 4 GB memory, and Wi-Fi 6 for fast streaming, responsive gaming, and quick multitasking.
- THIN AND LIGHT — Sleek aluminum design is also durable. It has strengthened glass and is 3 times as durable as the iPad 10.9-inch (10th generation) as measured in tumble tests.

At 10.1 inches, the Fire HD 10 (2023) boasts a good, large screen. Although it’s not as large as an iPad or Galaxy Tab, it will still be big enough to browse the web or watch your favorite shows and streaming movies. All of your favorite streamers and the majority of the most popular productivity apps are available, but you’ll only be able to access Amazon’s App Market rather than the Google Play Store. If Fortnite isn’t your favorite game, you might miss out on it.
Numerous accessories are also available, such as a high-end Amazon stylus pen, numerous cases, and more. Consider the Amazon Fire Max 11, the company’s latest foray into more expensive Android tablets, if you must step up to a keyboard.
Not to belittle it, the Amazon Fire HD 10 is a big plastic box, just like all of the company’s other tablets. Unlike many other slates, this practical design is made of a sturdy material that can withstand being dropped, sat on, and left in the bottom of very full bags.
The tablet weighs 433.6g, which is 30g less than its predecessor, but it would be difficult to detect the difference without scales. Additionally, the dimensions do not drastically change; at 246 x 164.8 x 8.6 mm, it is only 1 x 1.2 x 0.6 mm smaller than the 2021 model.
Like many contemporary tablets, the tablet’s front features a front-facing camera along one of the longer bezels. In the past, slates were frequently oriented 90 degrees, like smartphones, so the camera would be at the top when held in portrait mode, which is awkward for video calls.
Around one edge of the slate you’ve got a USB-C port for charging, a 3.5mm audio jack so you can plug in headphones instead of relying on wireless, and the power button to wake the device or send it back into its slumber. All the important buttons and holes are on the same edge, leaving the rest clear.
Amazon is offering the tablet in three color options: black (as our test unit is), lilac or blue. The accessories you can buy generally match these colors, though Amazon sometimes sells themed accessories too.
If you’re considering buying the Amazon Fire HD 10, bear in mind that it’s a fairly big tablet, and the Fire HD 8 and Fire 7 are smaller. They’ll fit in bags easier, and the latter can even slip into pockets – though the FIre HD 10 is far from the giant slates that Apple and Samsung make.
Pros
- Incredibly hardy
- Cheaper than many rivals
Cons
- Tiny changes from 2021 model
4.Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus
- CIRCLE IT, SEARCH IT, FIND IT. JUST LIKE THAT: Search for anything you see on your Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ Series screen simply by circling it. From discovering where to buy those awesome shoes to getting a recipe based on a dish your friend just posted, find answers fast using Circle to Search with Google.¹
- SCREEN FOR ALL YOUR PASSIONS: Be blown away by the large 12.4″ screen. There’s plenty of room to follow your passions, whether you’re taking an online photography class or unwinding with cat videos. Dual speakers make everything sound amazing
- READY FOR ALMOST ANYTHING: An IP68 rating makes Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ one of the only water- and dust-resistant tablets on the market. It’s built to last wherever you use it, making it a great choice for first-time tablet buyers

Along with the rest of the latest FE clan, which included a Galaxy S23 FE phone and new FE buds, came the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus. ‘FE’ no longer denotes ‘Fan Edition,’ but now it simply means… nothing. That’s okay, though, because regardless of its name, the Tab S9 FE Plus impressed in our comprehensive review. Although it costs the same as the Apple iPad Air, it outperforms the Apple tablet in many aspects, particularly battery life, which is why we chose it for tablet longevity.
Of course, the Tab S9 FE Plus lasts a long time because it’s processor is a bit underpowered, especially compared to Apple’s tablet. While the iPad Air gives you a full desktop processor inside, Samsung opts for a much more conservative Exynos 1380 processor, the same chipset found in its bargain Galaxy A54 phone from 2023.
So, it won’t be editing video in real time, but you’ll have fun watching videos for up to 18 hours, almost twice as long as many other tablets on this list, which typically last between 9 to 11 hours with basic usage. The Tab S9 FE Plus lasts well over a day of use even with the screen on, so if you need a tablet that lasts, this is your first stop.
Let me explain the Samsung tablet lineup, which can be a little confusing. The Galaxy Tab S9 is a high-end, pricey tablet designed to rival the iPad Pro from Apple. Look at the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and this tablet, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus, if you want a tablet that can compete with the iPad Air or even the base-model Apple iPad. No, you really should take a look at these tablets because they are really amazing and offer some features that we have never seen in a tablet of this cost.
The Apple iPad Air (2022) is the direct target of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus, and the two tablets are very dissimilar. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus is larger, heavier, and packed with more features than you would anticipate for a tablet at this price range, whereas the iPad Air is sleek and powerful.
IP68 water and dust resistance is, in my opinion, the most crucial feature. Only the business-oriented Galaxy Tab Active tablets have proven to be this resilient, even though Samsung phones have been IP68 rated since the Galaxy S5. The Tab S9 family changed that.
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the water resistance feature of the Galaxy Tab S9, which debuted in August 2023, was also present in the Galaxy Tab S9 FE family, which debuted later that year. If the weather permits, you can use this tablet to browse the web (and possibly complete some work) by the pool or watch Netflix in the bathtub.
Pros
- Excellent battery life
Cons
- Not very powerful for games and serious work
5.Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra
- 14.6-inch AMOLED Touchscreen (2960 x 1848) WQXGA+, Dynamic AMOLED 2X Technology
- 256GB SSD Storage, 12GB RAM, MicroSD Expansion Slot (Up to 1.5TB)
- 3.3GHz Media Tek MT6989 Processor (8-Core)

The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is an amazing Android tablet with a large screen that is ideal for drawing thanks to its integrated Wacom pen technology (the S Pen is included in the box). Some of its features, such as its water-resistant design and Samsung software’s exceptional multitasking capabilities, are not available on any iPad or the majority of other Android tablets.
Our expectations for an all-around laptop replacement are not met by Samsung’s choice of a MediaTek 9300+ processor, which is excellent for Android tasks and drawing tools. Artists seeking a large screen to unleash their creativity won’t be put off by Samsung’s keyboard options, which are also flimsy.
The Tab S10 Ultra boasts a fantastic design that highlights the incredible display, and Samsung offers the best tablet software if you want to work with windows open side by side. The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is a fantastic option for drawing and using the S Pen, though hopefully the next version will be much faster.
For some people, a huge tablet like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra might seem crazy, but for me, it makes perfect sense. The larger the screen, the better; I adore large screens. When I move to a new home and my TV is full, I want a tablet that can serve as a work surface, a drawing area, a tabloid newspaper, and a television stand-in. The Tab S10 Ultra is everything I need and more, just like all of Samsung’s “Ultra” devices.

All of the accessories for the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra are compatible with the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra because it is so similar to the model from the previous year. However, if you’re looking for a keyboard, don’t purchase Samsung’s product. Normally, I wouldn’t be so critical of accessories, but this is a crucial part of a replacement laptop tablet. For the Tab S series, Samsung needs a much better keyboard. Samsung’s keyboard is flimsy and unpleasant.
Pros
- Brilliant big display is great for everything
Cons
- Battery life can’t compete with iPad Pro, doesn’t come close
How to choose the best Android tablet for you
When you’re buying an Android tablet, the first thing to consider is not the tablet, but which phone you carry. Samsung tablets have features that only work with Samsung phones, and the OnePlus Pad also has features that work exclusively with OnePlus devices. Before other considerations, you might want to match your phone to your tablet to get the most out of both.
The next thing to consider is how much you want to spend. If you can spend on an Android tablet what you might spend on an iPad, you can get our favorite Android tablets from OnePlus and Samsung, with robust features, a great display, and plenty of extras like an included stylus.
If you only have a hundred bucks or so, you’ll be looking at Amazon Fire tablets, which don’t run Android with Google Play but instead rely on Amazon’s own App Market. You still get plenty of your favorite apps and streaming services, so hopefully, you won’t have to miss much to save money.
Is mobile data important?
No, if you buy an Android tablet that matches the brand of your phone, your tablet will probably be able to use your phone’s network connection without much trouble. Even if you buy a different brand, it isn’t hard to connect an Android tablet to your phone’s network signal.
Of course, buying a tablet from a mobile carrier often means you can get a discount or a deal that lets you buy a more expensive device, but this usually comes with a multi-year commitment to stay a customer until you’ve paid off the price of the tablet.
