But the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, which costs the same or less, outperforms all those well-known flagship phones in practically every category, putting the Xiaomi 12, Samsung Galaxy S22, and iPhone 14 in stunning fashion.

It’s difficult to put into words how unexpected this phone is. Although Motorola makes good low-end phones, their line of higher-end phones, the Edge line, hasn’t impressed us in a good few years.

Motorola is most proud of its 200MP cameras, which complete an already pixel-rich array with three more cameras. This is the first smartphone to be released in the world with a sensor this large.

Even at this price range, the phone’s telephoto lens, which is something we don’t often see, makes it fantastic for photography. However, the phone’s extremely high-resolution camera isn’t even among its top three characteristics.

We think the phone’s design is its best feature. It feels great to hold because of the “waterfall” curved-edge display, but the perfectly proportioned width and textured glass back also contribute to this.

The display is excellent, and its 144 Hz refresh rate gives it a competitive advantage. When paired with a top-end Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor the phone is fantastic for gaming or other power-hungry processes.

Speaking of power, the phone has a strong battery life, easily lasting a day between charges, and charges at a rate of 125W, which is far faster than most other fast-charging phones.

The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra offers an incredible user experience in every way, and unlike most other incredible phones of its like, you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it.

The camera on the phone would likely be our choice if we had to identify a weakness. Although 200MP is superfluous, it’s still not awful, and we would have preferred a zoom lens with a longer focal length than merely 2x. However, they are merely desires for an even better phone, and they’re not even close to that important, given that the phone is already so impressive.

This makes it a significantly more dependable all-day gadget than its predecessors. This battery capacity is combined with remarkably fast partial charging from what you would think would be more leisurely 30W speeds, typically achieving over 90% charge in the first half hour. Not wirelessly charged, though.
